 In 1999, Martin Parr released Common Sense, a provocative photographic series examining global consumerism through 350 hyper-saturated, tightly cropped images. Focusing on the minutiae of everyday life—fast food, garish clothing, kitschy souvenirs—the series highlights the absurdities of mass production and disposable culture. The photographs, captured between 1995 and 1999 using ultra-saturated 35mm film, present a vivid, often grotesque portrayal of modern consumption. To coincide with the series, Parr produced open edition Xerox prints, making the work widely accessible.
